| This
project had peaks in demand of up to 25,000m3 per month,
requiring 4 batching plants and 30 transit mixers.
Procurement of adequate raw materials to this
remote location was achieved through the use of a purpose-built
7,000 MT cement terminal fed by 2 x 5,000 MT bulk cement
vessels. The cement was then trucked along a 70km semi-permanent
road to the project site in purpose built 40MT tanker trucks.
Aggregates were barged from neighbouring islands or hauled
from the west coast of Sumatra by tipper trucks.
Other challenges included supply to a 300
m3/day prestress-beam and shear-wall plant where each bed
was turned around within 24 hours. Supply of high-quality
concrete was maintained without any failures over the 6
month period of peak operation. |
